Draft of a speech to the Six Nations by Moses Cleaveland explaining that the Connecticut Land Company has purchased "the Lands south of Lake Erie West of Pennsylvania and East of the Cuyahoga" and plans to begin surveying and settling the Connecticut Western Reserve. The speech is addressed to "Brothers, Sachems, Chiefs & Warriors of the Six Nations" and is dated June 21 [1796].

The Connecticut Land Company (1795-1809) was a syndicate of 35 groups representing 58 individuals who purchased on credit the majority of Connecticut's Western Reserve land as a speculative venture. Proceeds from the sale of the Reserve were used to establish the Connecticut School Fund.
